Research on the social integration of migrant workers from the perspective of economic differentiation——based on the survey of A city B community
Affected by factors such as social capital, life cycle, human capital, and personal initiative, migrant workers have formed a stratification of private business owners, middle-level management and skilled workers, self-employed and migrant workers, and their inherent needs still focus on basic material and emotional needs instead of integrating into the city. The differences in the abilities of migrant workers have led to the economic differentiation of the group. This economic differentiation and the subjective wishes of migrant workers have become an important factor in the social integration of migrant workers. Research has found that the limited mobility of migrant workers makes it difficult for them to move from the bottom to the upper middle class. For most migrant workers, the city is mainly used as a place of work to obtain wealth, not a place wher they belong. Therefore, with regard to the social integration of migrant workers, it is necessary to get rid of the one-dimensional urbanization and citizenization thinking. It is urgent to fully guarantee that some migrant workers have the means and conditions to integrate into the city, and meanwhile it is necessary to provide stable support in their hometown for those migrant workers who cannot stay in the city in order to promote an orderly flow between urban and rural areas.
