There are many studies on the causes and types of unmarried men but few analysis on their social status in the academic world. Based on the reflection of existing researches on social status from the, emic and etic perspective and the experience of villages in North, South and central China, with village social structure and intergenerational relationship as the analytical framework. this paper explored the type differences and deep value reasons of unmarried men in different regions from the perspective of regional differences. It found that the northern villages is dominanted by social value and the unmarried men in disintegrated social structure and the unbalanced intergenerational relationship are completely in marginal position. The southern villages are dominated by ontological values, and the unmarried men in the cohesive social structure and high-balanced intergenerational relationship are in a semi-marginal position . The atomized villages in central China are dominated by basic values, and the unmarried men in the decentralized social structure and low--balanced intergenerational relationship are in a non-marginal position.
