As a national strategic and basic core industry， the revitalization of seed industry is the key to promote rural revitalization and build an agricultural powerful country. Since the establishment of the People's Republic of China， China's seed industry has experienced five stages of development， and achieved rapid development under policy support and reform. However， the revitalization of the seed industry still faces five major challenges， such as insufficient exploration and utilization of germplasm resources， outdated breeding biotechnology and equipment， weak innovation ability of seed industry enterprises， low level of seed production base construction， and stagnant protection of intellectual property rights in the seed industry. To promote the revitalization of the seed industry in the future， we should strengthen the collection and identification of germplasm resources， promote the innovation of the seed industry， establish a commercial seed breeding system， and strengthen the protection of intellectual property rights. The paper puts forward some policy suggestions to give full play to the advantages of the new national system， establish a long-term investment mechanism to support the development of the seed industry， improve the institutional mechanism to encourage breeding innovation， and innovate the introduction and training of talents in the seed industry.
